How to Set Up/Connect Sub Accounts

How to Set Up/Connect Sub Accounts

This support article will show you how to set up/connect sub accounts to a primary account/user

Before we begin, please note that this is a new option that will have additional updates rolled out in phases, with this being phase one. As such, the current sub account capabilities are limited to simply setting up and connecting sub accounts to a primary account, but does not have the ability to link payments between accounts at this time. If the primary user wants to pay for the sub user, you will need to add the primary user's payment info to the sub user's account for the time being. We will update this support article as more sub account capabilities become available.

  1. To begin, go to People (CRM  )>> View Everyone >> then select the user you'll be connecting/adding sub accounts to.

  1. Once you've selected the user, scroll down to the Sub Accounts section of their profile and click Add.

  1. You will then have the options to add a note on the sub-users relation to the primary/parent account, Assign an existing user, or Create a new user.

  2. To assign an existing user, simply click into the "Select a user" bar and select the applicable user, then click Add to complete the process.

  3. If the sub user doesn’t have an existing account in your Hive, select Create a new user >> then enter their first and last name (the primary user’s last name will automatically be added, but this can be edited as needed).

Next, you’ll notice that there are 2 email options when creating a new user - Auto alias from primary/parent account and Enter separate email

Since emails are the unique identifier required to create an account, one must be provided for the new sub user. If the sub user does not have an email (ex: if they’re a young child) the auto alias option will automatically create a unique alias email from the primary user’s email. For example, if the primary user’s email is jane@examplemail.com and the sub user’s first name is Timmy, then the alias email created would be
jane+timmy@examplemail.com. An additional benefit of email aliases is that most major email providers, such as Google/Gmail, Yahoo, Microsoft/Exchange, etc. utilize them as well to forward any email sent to the alias to the primary email.

If the sub user has their own email you'd like to use instead, select Enter separate email >> then enter in the blank field.

Once you have finished adding/creating the sub user, click Create & Add to complete the process.

  4. All sub users will be accessible under the Sub Accounts section of the primary account, which you can click on to navigate to their profile.

When viewing a is a sub account profile, you can see which primary account they’re connected to in the Primary/Parent Account section.

Lastly, when viewing all users in People (CRM) >> View Everyone, sub accounts will be marked with a silhouette icon.

We hope this helps, but as always, please feel free to reach out to success@myfithive.com with any additional questions you may have.
