How to Create a Blog Post

This article will show you how to create blog posts in your Hive. Creating blogs allows you to share your unique voice with your target audience, building connections and creating a community around your ideas. It's a powerful way to enhance your brand, drive engagement, and establish thought leadership.

If you plan on covering multiple topics (ex: Nutrition, Wellness, Mindfulness, etc), then we recommend setting up Blog Categories

  1. To begin, go to Website >> Create Blog Posts >> then select Add Post

  1. Next, edit the blog to your liking, starting with adding the name of the blog in the blank Name field. This will be displayed publicly, so you’ll want to make sure that whatever you add here is in line with the topic you’ll be discussing in the blog itself. A strong blog post name/title captivates your audience at first glance, compelling them to read further. It's the key to standing out in a sea of content, driving clicks, and boosting your post's visibility and impact.

You also have the option to set a custom URL slug for your blog in the blank Slug field. Slugs are the portion at the end of a URL (ex: www.myfithive.com/blog/category/nutrition/this-is-the-slug). If left blank, the slug will automatically be generated based on the blog name. For example, if the blog name is “5 Tips to Tracking Macros”, then the slug would default to www.myfithive.com/blog/category/nutrition/7-tips-to-tracking-macros.

The Post Date setting will publicly display the date the blog was posted. This will automatically default to the date you created the blog post, but can be edited at any time.

The Author field will publicly display who wrote/created the blog post and will automatically be set to whoever first created the post, but can be edited at any time.

The Active setting is pretty straightforward and controls whether or not the blog is active.

You have the option to add a preview image to your blog post. To do so, click on the magnifying glass icon, then you can either select an existing image, or upload a new one from your device (computer, tablet, phone, etc). You also have the option to select a stock image from the Unsplash Image Library.

The last setting is assigning your blog post to a
category (optional). As mentioned above, if you plan to use your blog to cover a variety of topics we recommend setting up categories to help keep them organized.

  1. The Post Content box is where you’ll add the content of the blog post. There are multiple tools available, such as adding images, hyperlinks, etc., in the editing menu. Simply hover over each tool icon and a brief explanation on what it does will be provided.

  1. The Post Excerpt is a short summary of what the post is about, which will be displayed on the list view of your blog. A strong post excerpt is essential for engaging your audience, improving SEO, and encouraging clicks to read the full post.

  1. The info you add to the SEO/Meta Information section will help improve your blog’s online search-ability and search engine ranking. If left blank, the Title and Description will be pulled from the Blog Post Title and Post Excerpt, respectively.

SEO keywords are specific words or phrases that reflect the content of your blog and match what people search for online. Including them strategically boosts your blog's search engine ranking, making it easier for your target audience to find and engage with your content.

  1. Once you have finished editing your blog, click Save to complete the process. Your post will then be added to the Blog section of your Hive, which we've provided an example of below.
