How to Create/Edit Web Pages

This article will show you how to create/edit web pages in your Hive.
  1. To begin, go to Website >> Manage Web Pages >> Add Page.

Before we start adding content, let’s go over the page's primary settings in the left hand menu.

    1. Name: add the name of the web page here for internal use; this can also be displayed towards the top left of the page itself if the Header Title Enabled setting in your Hive’s General Settings is enabled.

    2. URL/Slug: slugs are the portion at the end of a URL (ex: www.yourwebsite.com/this-is-the-slug). If left blank, the slug will automatically be generated based on the page name. For example, if the page name is “5 Tips to Tracking Macros”, then the slug would default to www.yourwebsite.com/5-tips-to-tracking-macros.

    3. Header Image URL: this will add a banner-type background image to the top of the page; please note that the Header Image Enabled setting in your Hive’s General Settings must be enabled for this to be displayed.

    4. Side Menu: this gives you the option to add an additional menu to the page, which can be set up through the Edit Website Menus section of your Hive.

    5. Active: controls whether the page is active or not; if deactivated the page will be inaccessible.

    6. Landing Page: a landing page is a standalone web page designed specifically for a marketing or advertising campaign, where visitors "land" after clicking a link. Its primary purpose is to drive conversions by encouraging visitors to take a specific action, such as signing up for a newsletter or making a purchase. If enabled, this will hide your site’s header and footer menus.

    7. Hide Header: if enabled, this will hide the header menu normally located at the top of your website

    8. Hide Footer: if enabled, this will hide the footer menu on the page normally located at the bottom of your website

    9. Protected Settings/Page Access: this controls who is able to able to access the page; available access options are:
      1. Anyone/Public: allows the page to be viewed by anyone
      2. Anyone with set Access Code: gives you the option to assign an access code to the page; if enabled, only users with the access code will be able to view the page
      3. Any Logged In User: if enabled, users must be logged into their profile in order to view the page
      4. User With Membership (or Admin): if enabled, users must be logged into their account and have an active membership in order to view the page
      5. Admin User: if enabled, only users with admin access can view the page
      6. Instructor (or Admin): if enabled, only instructors (or admins) will be able to view the page

    10. SEO/Meta Information: the info you add to the SEO/Meta Information section will help improve your page’s search-ability and search engine ranking. If left blank, the Title will be pulled from the page name.

The SEO Description are specific keywords or phrases that reflect the content of your page and match what people search for online. Including them strategically boosts your page’s search engine ranking, making it easier for your target audience to find and engage with your content.

    11. Thumb Image URL: allows you to add a thumbnail image to the page’s URL/link; this serves as a preview to the page.

  2. To start adding content to your page, click +Add Section >> select the content widget you’d like to add to the page >> then use the editing options in the menu to the left of the page to edit the section as needed.

Due to the amount of available content widgets and each of their respective settings, each widget has its own support article to cover them in more detail, which we’ve provided the links to below.

Content Widgets (click on the name of the widget to open its support article):

The </> Raw HTML/CSS setting (located at the bottom of the widget selection window) gives you the option to add HTML or CSS code to the page. This can be used to add/embed code from outside sources for services such as Facebook Messenger, FB pixels, Google Pixels, and more. If you’re familiar, CSS code can be used to control the appearance and layout of HTML elements on a web page, including styling aspects like colors, fonts, spacing, and positioning.

To add HTML/CSS code to the page, copy the code from the third-party service/source >> open up the page you'd like to add it to in your Hive >> select Add Section >> select </>Raw HTML/CSS >> paste the code into the blank field >> then Set Content.

*Please note that FitHive has no control over the functionality or formatting of codes from third-party services/sources. As such, FitHive is not responsible for any effects or impacts on your web page caused by HTML and/or CSS code from third-party services. Please use such code at your own risk. For any issues, contact the third-party provider directly.

  3. When you’re finished editing the section, click Set Content. You can then repeat Step 2 to add additional content widgets to the page.

  4. To edit an existing section of the page, hover your mouse over it and select the desired option from the menu.

Here’s a breakdown of the available options in the section menu:

    1. Edit: this will allow you to edit all content within the section

    2. Add Above/Below: this will give you the option to add a new content section above or below the selected section

    3. Move Up/Down: these will move the entire section up or down on the page

    4. Copy Section: this will copy the section, which you can then paste elsewhere on the current page, or you can paste this to a separate page.

To paste the copied section, select +Add Section >> then select Paste Section (located at the bottom of the widget selection window).

    5. Delete Section: this will delete the section and all of its content from the page. Please be absolutely sure you wish to delete the section before executing this action since it can not be reversed/restored.

  5. Once you have finished making edits to your page, select Save to complete the process.
